The question is: “Is possible to combine an holiday in Italy with an active climbing program for total beginners”?
The answer is: “Yes, because in Italy is possible to combine every touristic preference”. If you are interested to visit Italy for the common touristic finality: visit at the historical cities, castles, taste the local gourmet, etc….. but you would like combine it with a first experience in rock climbing, we can do it in the central Italy mountain region.
You can arrive at the Milan airports (Malpensa or Linate) or at the Venice airport (Marco Polo) because the distance of our starting point are similar.
In any case you will find your mountain guide at the exit of the international flight ready to start.
Your exploration will began in San Marino with the visit at this famous independent “city castle”, yes.. because this town is an independent territory with a long history to discover at your first day. San Marino is the door of the central Italy mountains : the “Appennini”.

Near San Marino there are, along the Marecchia valley, lot of climbing cliff perfect for beginners. We will spend the second day with am introduction at the climbing technic. Pennabilli is a lovely small town with medieval defensive walls that have different climbing cliff to do this introductive experience the first day into a very characteristic ambient and combine it, on the afternoon with the visit of the San Leo fortress.

The second area to visit is a bit south, the Piobbico mountains, characterised of different canyons where is possible to climbing in many cliffs and if you have a good feeling the climbing, with some easy multi-pitch routes to extend your climbing experience at the mountaineering aspect of this art.
During the Roman emperor and last along the medieval era, here was important roads that crossed the Apennini mountains, for this reasons there are many castles and fortificed town that will be our touristic destinations during the days of our permanence.
This mountain area is quite extended, so we can spend here from two to five days in maximal flexibility based at your availability.
Lastly if you have more time we can extend this tour with others two or three days in the “Frasassi canyon” area. The “Gola di Frasassi” (this is the name in Italian language)
