Day 1: Ease Into the Adventure – Via Ferrata Degli Alpini – Corno Medale

Walking to the approach: 40 min
Climbing the Via Ferrata in: 2-3 hrs
Walking back to the parking: 1.30 hr
Total time: 5-6 hrs – Total vertical gain (about): 600 m.

This classic route lets you get your climbing legs under you while enjoying incredible views of the city below.

Day 2: Level Up! – Via Ferrata Gamma 1 – Pizzo d’Erna

Walking to the approach: 40 min
Climbing the Via Ferrata in: 2-3 hrs
Walking back to the cableway station: 0.20 min
Total time: 4 hrs – Total vertical gain (about): 600 m.

Get ready for breathtaking lake vistas and routes with interesting features like Tibetan bridges that add a bit of extra fun to the climb.

DAY 3: Push Your Limits – Via Ferrata Pietro Biasini – Chiavenna

Walking to the approach: 30 min
Climbing the Via Ferrata in: 2 hrs
Walking back to the parking: 1.00 hr
Total time: 4 hrs – Total vertical gain (about): 350 m.

This newer route near the charming town of Chiavenna packs a bit more punch with exposed sections that’ll test your technique and give you a proper adrenaline rush.

Day 4: A Climb with a Story – Via Ferrata Direttissima – Southern Grigna

Walking to the approach: 40 min
Climbing the Via Ferrata in: 3-4 hrs
Walking back to the parking: 1.30 hr
Total time: 6 hrs – Total vertical gain (about): 800 m.

This challenging climb with its incredible scenery is a piece of Lake Como climbing history. Plus, there are mountain refuges along the route, perfect for refuelling with a snack and enjoying the view.

Day 5: The Classic Ridge Climb above Lake Como – Cresta Sinigaglia, Southern Grigna

Walking to the approach: 2 hrs
Climbing the Via Ferrata in: 1 hr
Walking back to the parking: 1.30 hr
Total time: 5.30 hrs – Total vertical gain (about): 800 m.

The Cresta Sinigaglia is one of the most iconic ridge climbs in the Lake Como area and undoubtedly the finest route to the summit of Southern Grigna. This spectacular alpine traverse combines easy climbing, airy passages, and breathtaking panoramas over Lake Como and the surrounding Alps. On clear days, the view stretches as far as the Apennines on the southern horizon of the Po Valley. A truly unforgettable via ferrata experience above Lake Como.

Day 6: A Modern Via Ferrata above Lake Como – Via Ferrata Corno Rat, Valmadrera

Total time: 4-5 hrs – Total vertical gain (about): 550 m.

The Via Ferrata Corno Rat is a beautiful modernized via ferrata near Valmadrera, on the southeastern side of Lake Como. Recently renovated, it now offers more accessible technical difficulties while preserving the exciting exposure and vertical atmosphere that make this route so enjoyable. The climb develops on impressive limestone walls above the charming church and mountain refuge of San Tommaso, which we will visit on the descent. A complete and highly scenic day, perfect for climbers looking for an exciting via ferrata near Lake Como.

Day 7: A Panoramic Beginner Via Ferrata near Lake Como – Via Ferrata dei Pizzetti

Walking to the approach: 45 min
Climbing the Via Ferrata in: 1,30 hr
Walking back to the parking: 2 hr
Total time: 4-5 hrs – Total vertical gain (about): 500 m.

The Via Ferrata dei Pizzetti is one of the classic easy via ferratas in the Lecco area and an excellent choice for beginners approaching their first vertical experience above Lake Como. The trail starts directly from the northern edge of the town, and step by step the views over the lake become increasingly spectacular. The route offers enjoyable climbing with moderate exposure in a magnificent natural setting. At the end of the climb, we reach the charming Alpini mountain refuge — the perfect place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the Lecco mountains.

Day 8: Short but Beautiful! – Via Ferrata della Galleria di Morcate, Lake Como

Walking to the approach: 2 min
Climbing the Via Ferrata in: 1 hr
Walking back to the parking: 45 min
Total time: 1,30 – 2 hrs – Total vertical gain (about): 150 m.

The Via Ferrata della Galleria di Morcate is a short but surprisingly scenic via ferrata overlooking Lake Como. Thanks to its minimal approach and sheltered sections, it is an excellent option in uncertain weather conditions. Despite the moderate difficulty, the route offers a fascinating and panoramic ascent above the lake. To complete the day, a visit to the beautiful lakeside village of Varennais highly recommended.
